Shikinley Rena born in a small town just across the Natchez, Ms river bridge, grew up in a humble setting. Father Mckinley Bates Sr. is a minister who also cuts grass on the side is married to Debra Bates who is a former day care operator. Now she suffers from having two life threatening strokes and is paralyzed on her entire right side and cannot walk or speak. She has two siblings an older sister Nicole Mitchell who is a nurse; she has two children, a boy and a girl. She has one younger brother who is mastering the field of photography and video editing. In high school she played basketball for 4 years, was on a kick dance line for 3 years. In basketball where She received most of my recognition, She was the lead scorer, and made all district 2 years in a row. She also joined the band where she played baritone, trumpet, cymbals and bass drum. Academically she managed to have a 3.2 majority of my high school career and I placed highly in many state academic contests. she was also most versatile of my class.
Started off as a speech communications and theater major, and then decided to switch to mass communications. 2006 she got my first internship with citadel broadcasting which is where my love for radio and promotions began. After that internship bigger and better things started coming my way. She was always known for having my recording camera with me and that opened doors for me to record parties and events. She worked with a bunch of big name actors and artist. And she is no stranger to the writing world either. She interned with fearless Magazine where she was voted most valuable young writer. I am now trying to start a career in radio broadcasting and then pursue a career in being a tv host. |

Mass Communications-Broadcast, Certified Athletic trainer, Threw my first major concert April 28, 2011 featuring Wale, Slim Thug, Dee-1 and level, With a budget of only 45k. Worked for essence festival for 5 years on payroll, helped event plan and did artist handling. Worked the end of summer jams that BR hosted, worked as an artist handler. Recently worked as an artist handler for artist Currency, Big Krit and Riff Raff at the Varsity Theater. " I was the person to start southern university’s online show “on the yard” and it currently runs on the local channel four periodically", said Rena. She love photography, recording, playing basketball, horseback riding, roller skating, working out, finding new artist to work with (my current artist that I am planning an event for is Rikki Blu) I have a passion for the media. I have dabbled in being a stylist, so I enjoy shopping and learning about fashion, I have also made a few garments for myself including a swimsuit, dress, two skirts, and a pair of tights. I love art my favorite underground painter right now is a guy named Travis Pickett who has beautiful, amazing, fun and fresh paintings. I love traveling and doing anything athletic. I also do hair and have a new love for sneakers! I am on my way to becoming a sneakerhead. Working as an intern at xxl magazine, pieces should be coming out soon.
