In 2010, a friend suggested to me that he
should enter in this contest in 2011, showcasing men's physique. Frank had no
desire to do so, so he shot it down. Once he learned that it could impact my
business, he decided to give it a try. He won my very 1st contest which
qualified me for a national shot to turn pro. So on his 2nd appearance on the
national stage he turned pro in 2012.
As a pro competitor he wanted to appear on the Mr. Olympia stage this year so all of my efforts were to improve my body and stand toe to toe with other pro's. In doing so, my dad's health was failing & I wanted to give him this accomplishment before he died. He coached me in high school as a basketball player and we dreamt of me turning pro since he missed his opportunity. Well in March of this year due to stress over not knowing if he would live as Frank competed as a 1st year pro, I collapsed after coming back from visiting him. In April I was admitted to the hospital for a week due to dehydration and 30lb weight loss. I was planning on competing in June to qualify. After unsuccessfully qualifying, my dad's health started to take a decline. In July we buried him 3 weeks right before my 2nd attempt of qualifying. This was a very stressful time for me, my family and my training. I finished strong but still didn't qualify. |
